We are honored to have become custodians of this very special piece of Santa Fe’s history. But the history of the partnership that brought this posada to fruition is also worth sharing.
Palace Modern was born out of a friendship that spans decades and has brought together people from diverse professional backgrounds to reimagine what lodging in this historic city can be. Drawing from the expertise of Kristin Anderson, Jim Heneghan and Jay Galván Heneghan in corporate marketing, software as a service, and healthcare/wellness, and housed in the aesthetic design of artist and homebuilder Seth Anderson, Palace Modern is the love child of this partnership that also pays homage to the city that has been home to this friendship for so long.

Palace Modern is the embodiment of Seth Anderson Studio's philosophy, a place where art, design, craftsmanship, and place converge. Led by artist, designer, and builder Seth Anderson, the studio creates sculptural environments that blend modern living with the rich cultural and material heritage of New Mexico. Through an intuitive process guided by site, light, landscape, and existing structure, each project emerges from its surroundings rather than being imposed upon them. The transformation of this 1950s- era building reflects that approach, honoring its history while reimagining it through a contemporary lens that feels both timeless and distinctly Santa Fe.
Throughout Palace Modern, architecture becomes art and construction becomes sculpture. Natural materials, handcrafted details, curated furnishings, and an ever- changing dialogue with New Mexico's extraordinary light create an immersive experience rooted in both regional authenticity and an international sensibility. Each guest room offers a unique expression of the studio's vision, serving as a reflection of Seth Anderson Studio's commitment to creating spaces that are thoughtful, artistic, and deeply connected to place.
